It is also possible to reduce the sodium content by draining and rinsing canned beans. University-based researchers studied the effect on sodium content when canned beans are drained and rinsed. They studied the average sodium content per serving of multiple brands of five types of popular canned beans (Red Kidney, Garbanzo, Pinto, Black, and Great Northern). All brands and all types demonstrated significant reductions in sodium after 1) draining and 2) draining followed by rinsing 10 seconds with running tap water & draining for 2 minutes. Overall, the draining treatment reduced sodium by 36% and the draining followed by rinsing reduced sodium by 41%.
The results of this study only apply to our canned beans, which are not in seasoned sauce. The research study did not include our Baked Beans, Grillin' Beans, Chili Magic or other beans in seasoned sauce.
I am unable to find a particular product in my area. Can you help me locate it?
Yes, we can help. Although distribution of our Baked Beans line is national, not all stores carry all sizes and varieties. Where can I purchase your products outside the United States?
Currently, we only distribute our Baked Beans outside of the U.S. to Canada. Some of our products may, however, be sold in other countries by various importers. At this time, we do not ship directly to consumers outside of the continental U.S.
Is it OK to freeze your product?
There is no need to freeze unopened cans of beans because the canning process preserves our products. After opening, beans can be frozen in an airtight container for a short period of time. There should not be a significant change in the flavor, but the character of the beans will most likely be altered. After being frozen, the beans tend to be much softer than normal. If you do decide to freeze our products, we do not recommend freezing for an extended period of time or freezing in the can.
Can I refrigerate your products in the can after opening?
The best way to store the product after opening the can is in an airtight container in a refrigerator. This preserves the beans for 2–3 days. We do not recommend refrigerating the beans in the can.
